Terms
Papa Prep is a free tool made by one person. These terms are short because there isn't much to say: use it, it costs nothing, and it is not a doctor.
This is not medical advice
Papa Prep is for information and organization. It is not a medical device, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for a clinician who can see your partner and your baby. Nothing here creates a doctor–patient relationship.
The red-flag lists, the cry analysis, the depression screening and the reference content are prompts to help you notice things and ask better questions. They are not assessments. A screening score is not a diagnosis. A cry reading is a guess from sound and timing, and the app says so where you read it.
If something feels wrong, call. A provider fielding a call that turns out to be nothing is a far better outcome than the reverse. In an emergency, call your local emergency number — in the US, 911 — rather than opening an app.
About the content
Content is drawn from published guidance, named studies, and a postpartum nurse's course, and the app tries to say plainly where evidence is thin or contested rather than sounding more confident than it should. Even so: guidance changes, sources disagree, and your family's situation may not be the one the research describes. Your clinician outranks this app every time.
Your data
Almost everything stays on your device. The privacy policy is the detailed version and is worth reading — it's short.
Because your data lives in your browser, you are responsible for keeping it. Clearing site data, losing the device, or using a different browser means starting over. Use Settings → Export if the record matters to you.
Accounts
An account is optional. If you create one and opt into being told about another dad nearby, you're consenting to be asked — not to be contacted by anyone else, and not to appear in any directory. You can delete that at any time from Settings, and it is deleted rather than hidden.
Don't use an account to harass anyone or to misrepresent who you are. If you do, it gets removed.
No warranty
Papa Prep is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. It is free, it is maintained in spare time, and it may contain mistakes, be unavailable, or change without notice.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Brendan Langen is not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of Papa Prep — including decisions made in reliance on its content. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, in which case the narrowest permitted exclusion applies.
The code
The source is public at github.com/balOS/papa-prep, under whatever license is stated in that repository. Published guidance and third-party material quoted or adapted in the app remains the property of its authors and is used with attribution.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top will say when, and the history is public. Using the app after a change means accepting it.
